CURRY CHICKEN PUNJABI STYLE



Chicken cooked in YOGURT (dahi) imparts a unique flavor to the curry. The creaminess of the curd make the gravy very delicious. 
The combination of curd, black pepper powder and fresh green coriander leaves gives a nice aroma and flavor to the curry.

Recipe for Curd Chicken

Ingredients

Chicken - 1 kg ,Yogurt - 1 cup,Onion -  2 large (finely chopped),Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp,Green Chillies -  2, Garam Masala - (1 cinnamon, 1 bay leaf, 3 cloves etc),Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp,Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp,Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp (or to taste),Pepper Powder - 1 tbsp,Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp,Salt - to taste,Cilantro - 1/4 bunch (finely chopped),Curry Leaves - for garnish,Oil – 2 tbsp

Lets Start Cooking

  1. Marinate the chicken an hour before with the yogurt, salt and all the dry masala powders (red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and pepper powder).
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the whole garam masala and cumin seeds remember not to burn. Fry till they are brownish in color.
  3. Add the green chilies , onion and cook till it turns nice and golden brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to this and bring everything to a boil. Add yogurt to this.
  5. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes stirring occasionally. Check for salt and add if needed. 
  6. Mix in the finely chopped coriander leaves. yogurt chicken curry is ready to be served.
